Yesterday @nualagillick managed the Glenanne Women’s 2nds team for the last time. After 46 active years in the club, Nuala is now taking up residence on the sideline as a full time spectator and club supporter.

Nuala has had many roles within the club; President, Secretary, Social Secretary, Match Secretary, Umpire, Team Manager, and, of course, a tireless member of the fundraising committee—yes, even when Glenanne raffled the greyhound!🤣

Her dedication extended far beyond the pitch. From organising dinner dances and ball committees, to the countless hours poured into the 300 Club Draw, she has played an instrumental role in fostering a sense of togetherness and camaraderie that truly defines the Glenanne spirit. The perfect mixture of a shoulder to cry on and a kick up the arse when you needed one, or both!

Stepping down after 46 incredible years is no small feat. It’s hard to imagine Glenanne without her steady presence, her sharp wit, and her unmatched dedication. Her contributions have left a permanent mark on the fabric of our club, one that we will always honour and cherish. It’s hard to find “club people” like you anymore.

On behalf of the Club, we want to thank Nuala for the years of service, dedication, madness, support and love.

A giant of Glenanne he will be laid to rest in his club blazer. A true club man to the last.

Another one of the real golden generation gone. A generation that gave willingingly without ever asking anything in return.

Our club is so much better for your contribution on and off the field. Our lives are so much richer for having known you.

Our heartfelt thanks and condolences to all the Leonard family.

Glenanne HC are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jimmy Leonard.

Having first played for the club circa 1954, Jimmy was one of the original club greats, always featuring in any discussion on the clubs best ever player of any era.

A one club man all his career despite many offers, Glenanne was a true love for him.

Jimmy was instrumental in founding the Glenanne Colts section and dedicated an incredible amount of time coaching in the section over the years.

A renowned story teller, Jimmy enjoyed the social side of the game (often a pint before a game!) and the Leonard household was an informal Glenanne club house with legendary parties and sing songs for many years, including Christmas morning with the charity match being a real passion of Jimmy’s.

Our sincere condolences to his devoted daughters, and Glenanne members, Niomh, Deirdre and Siobhan and all the extended family. It is some comfort that Jimmy goes to join his beloved wife Marie.
